Privacy policy
Template — to be reviewed by counsel and completed with the operating entity's legal details before launch.
What we collect
- Account data: name, email address, organisation name and role, and a password hash (we never store your password).
- API usage: for each API request, the endpoint, status code, time, latency and the key used. We do not store request query strings or payloads.
- Billing data: plan, payment references and status from our payment provider. Card details are handled by the payment provider and never reach our servers.
- Enquiries: information you submit through contact forms.
How we use it
To provide and secure the service, enforce plan limits, show you usage analytics, process payments, respond to enquiries, and send essential service emails such as password resets.
Retention
Detailed request logs are kept for a limited period (90 days by default) and then aggregated. Account and billing records are kept while your account is active and as required by law.
Cookies and analytics
We use strictly necessary cookies for signing in (a session cookie and a CSRF protection cookie).
On our public pages (for example the home, pricing and documentation pages) we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the website. It sets analytics cookies and sends Google information such as the pages you view, your browser and device type and approximate location. We do not use it in your dashboard, in the admin area, or on email verification and password reset pages, and we do not use advertising cookies. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.
Sharing
We share data only with service providers needed to run NaijaPress (hosting, email delivery, payment processing, website analytics, AI processing of public news content) and when required by law. AI providers receive news article content, not your account data.
Your rights
You can access and update your account details in the dashboard and contact us to request deletion or a copy of your data, subject to applicable law, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act.
